Part-time Custodian 

PRIMARY FUNCTION

To clean and maintain the church facilities.

Part-time: 5-9 hours/week coordinated with the primary custodian

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.

Primary duties will be downstairs fellowship hall/bathrooms, but is not limited to this area.

Clean up trash/litter outside of building on the grounds.

Performs routine maintenance activities.

Performs heavy cleaning duties.

Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.

Gathers and empties trash.

Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.

Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.

Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.

Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.

Set-up and take-down of tables/chairs for events.

Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.

Address inventory of cleaning supplies with Office Administrator in a timely manner.

Notifies Pastor or Trustees regarding the need for repairs to building operating systems.

Hours

Wednesday Evenings          8:30 PM – 10:30 PM

Thursday Evenings               8:30 PM – 10:30 PM

Fall Hours (add one Saturday Evenings per month 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM) help clean during/after Ham & Bean Suppers. Must be able to help set-up tables/chairs for event.  Available to clean during and after event so that facility is ready for Sunday services.

Flexibility is preferred to cover during primary custodian vacation times, and special events.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures

Ability to stand, walk, and bend for 4 to 8 hours

Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time

Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions

Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals

Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules

Communication skills

Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders and work at particular heights

Demonstrate a high level of trust (violation of trust may be cause for dismissal)

Protect the reputation and integrity of others through strict confidentiality

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Basic math skills

High school courses in shop may be preferred for jobs involving repair work

Ability to speak and understand English

Additional Notes

Must be available to train with primary custodian during dayshift hours.  To be scheduled upon hiring.
Pay will be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
